I found this video interesting because it poses the idea of "Guanxi" in a more positive light. It talk about Guanxi as a common form of doing business deals in China. The video also mentioned how Guanxi was more of a way of doing business without a stable and effective legal system. The video defines Guanxi as form of trust and respect amongst business partners. However, I feel that Guanxi has changed in the China from what it use to be. The video says there is nor exact one word definition to Guanxi, but to me it seems like a way of doing business outside the law. Being outside the law can lead to nefarious acts and illegal connections. Another interesting piece of this video is the reactions of the people when asked how important or relevant Guanxi is. It seem about half claim it was a non-factor while the other half stressed the importance of Guanxi. I believe Guanxi is a very real phenomenon in China and it does make stopping corruption difficult when a concept like this one is embedded into the culture. China problems with Guanxi can become extremely problematic to the regimes legitimacy and campaign to end corruption amongst its leadership.
